Needle Aponeurotomy Risks

Below is a list of some risks involved with Needle Aponeurotomy (NA) or needle release (NR).

There is no cure for Dupuytrens Disease. The goal of the procedure is to straighten and increase function of the fingers. With either Needle Aponeurotomy or Open Surgery there may be residual stiffness, lumps and recurrence (30% to 50% in 5 years).
Minor adverse events were: small cracks and breaks in the skin, minor infections, tingling of the fingers and bruising. An extremely low incidence of .05% or 1 in 2,000 has been reported for flexor tendon ruptures and nerve lacerations.
